Jazzy Country. Singer Jenny Holmgren has a background in muscial theatre and is educated at the Royal Academy of Music in London. This is mirrored in It’s like you carry wings- The CD flies high on ballads filled with escalating choirs as if it really belonged on the musical stage.
The lyrics are filled with classic country expressions (listen to Just like a cowboy and High heeled boots) but the sound is more jazzy and the album is filled with ballads carried by Jenny’s flawless, well trained voice.
This CD would suit as a soundtrack to an expensive movieproduction and the entire album strives for perfection. Professional musicians and a trained singer, It’s like you carry wings’ is magnificent and beautiful, but also a little impersonal.
Jazzig Country. Sångerskan Jenny Holmgren har en bakgrund inom musikalscenen och är utbildad vid Royal Academy of Music i London. Detta återspeglas på It’s like you carry wings- Skivan flyger högt på ballader fyllda av stegrande körer som om den egentligen hörde hemma på musikalscenen.
Texterna är fyllda av klassiska countryuttryck (lyssna på Just like a cowboy och High heeled boots) men själva soundet drar mer åt det jazziga hållet och skivan är fylld av ballader som bärs upp av Jennys felfria, vältränade röst.
Skivan skulle passa som ett soundtrack till en påkostad filmproduktion och hela skivan bär på en strävan efter perfektion. Proffsiga musiker och en skolad sångerska till trots, It’s like you carry wings’ är storslagen och vacker, men också aningen opersonlig.
